An intimate evening of food, wine, art, and music featuring a five-course dinner by James Beard–nominated Chef Jamie Malone and an exclusive concert by acclaimed pianist Denis Evstuhin.

The Museum of Russian Art and Paris Dining Club invite you to A Feast of the North, an exclusive, intimate dining experience featuring a five-course menu by James Beard–nominated Chef Jamie Malone. Separated by thousands of miles, Minnesota and Russia share a familiarity with long northern winters and the food traditions that come with them. It’s this connection that inspired Malone’s menu for the evening.

“Minnesota and Russia sit at northern latitudes, and by December our food seasons start to feel very similar,” says Malone. “The garden is gone, but the cellar is full and we are ready for things that want a long, slow braise.”

That was Malone’s starting point for a menu featuring buckwheat blini and trout, celery root, winter beets, and slow-cooked Wagyu short rib with a rich mushroom Stroganoff sauce.

“I want the food to feel generous and very much of winter,” she explains. “Not strictly Russian or Minnesotan, but a dinner built around the beauty of our winters.”

The evening begins with cocktails, passed hors d’oeuvres and music as guests explore the museum’s galleries after hours, surrounded by two exhibitions celebrating the northern winter: The Northern Palette: Winter in Russian Art and Tradition and Painting Snow: Art of Northern Winter by 20th Century Russian Masters. A beautifully decorated yolka, the traditional New Year’s tree, and a collection of Soviet-era ornaments add to the festive atmosphere.

Acclaimed Russian pianist Denis Evstuhin will give an exclusive performance of selections from Tchaikovsky’s The Seasons. An internationally recognized soloist, Evstuhin has performed at prestigious venues including Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, and has appeared with the Minnesota Orchestra. Guests will enjoy his performance in the intimate setting of the museum’s galleries.

The evening concludes with Chef Malone’s Snowy Pavlova Wreaths, presented with a touch of ceremony and accompanied by traditional Russian tea service.
