TMORA partners with the American Swedish Institute (ASI) during their Holiday exhibition A Nordic Christmas: Myths, Legends & Fairytales at the American Swedish Institute. Visit TMORA’s Russian Christmas room located in the historic Turnblad Mansion, featuring many of the legends and myths that abound this time of the year including Grandfather Frost and his granddaughter, Snegurochka (Snow-maiden).

Myths, legends and fairytales of elusive trolls, yule goats, friendly giants, magical spirits and mischievous elves make Sweden and the Nordic region (Norway, Iceland, Finland and Denmark) the most magical place in the world to celebrate the Christmas season.  Explore ASI’s beloved Christmas rooms curated by community cultural ambassadors, featuring the mythical characters that have emerged from religious practices and traditional folklore to become time-honored stories and holiday traditions.  What mythical beings bring gifts on Christmas? What whimsical stories do parents recount so their kids behave? Discover centuries of legends and the differences between tomtenissejólasveinar, and joulupukki.
