ABOUT THE EXHIBITION:
Portal to the Surreal: Vladimir Dikarev
This exhibition features works of the Minnesotan artist Vladimir Dikarev. Born into a Russian-Polish family in Soviet Ukraine, Dikarev’s fascinating paintings bridge continents and political regimes. But the vagaries and vicissitudes of his personal biography are not so important in Dikarev’s work, as he is intent on expressing his creative impulse through surrealist depictions of the landscapes of his mind. His works explore the style that he sometimes calls “poetic surrealism.” Each of his works is a window to a different world and another reality, that are worlds apart and at the same time mysteriously connected, as if through a portal, to the very real world that surrounds us.
Portal to the Surreal: Vladimir Dikarev will be on view in the Mezzanine Gallery March 9 – June 2, 2024.
