Gifts and Prayers: The Romanovs and Their Subjects

This exhibition of exquisite objects from a private collection (on extended loan and a promised gift to the Georgia Museum of Art) shows how the Romanov family of Russian rulers commissioned, used and distributed gifts to solidify its hold on power. It includes portrait paintings, military medals and orders, statuettes, icons, snuff boxes and objects made by Fabergé, among many other items.

Organized by the Georgia Museum of Art, University of Georgia, Athens. This exhibition is generously supported by the Fraser-Parker Foundation, the W. Newton Morris Charitable Foundation and the Friends of the Georgia Museum of Art. All objects in it are on loan from a private collection unless otherwise indicated.
