Yoga in the Gallery: July
Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 9:00 am - 10:00 am
$20Inspired by the sun symbols and goddess figures depicted on many of the tools and textiles in Peasant Women of the Russian North, we invite you to join us in the Main Gallery for a gentle yoga practice. Led by Museum Guide and yoga instructor Ramaa Bhasin, we’ll flow through an inspiring and meditative practice in the tranquil TMORA galleries, surrounded by artwork. Your ticket includes a 45 minute yoga flow, post-yoga tea, and admission to the museum afterward. Please bring your own mat, wear comfortable clothing you can move in, and be prepared to remove your shoes. Feel free to bring a block, blanket, and/or towel (in addition to your mat) if these items serve your practice. Register in advance. The flow will be gentle and modifications offered; however, we do recommend this class for those with prior yoga experience. Contact [email protected] with any questions.
Ramaa’s fascination with yoga and meditation started with her grandparents’ teachings of yoga, chanting, healing practices, and stories. Most of all, her interest piqued with the ancient Indian oral traditions of storytelling, tales of mythology, divine heroic deeds, and courage. Ramaa has years of classical yoga training from reputable studios in California (Yoga Shakti, 500 hours) and Kansas (Darling Yoga, 200 hours). Her classes are creatively sequenced, tying in Indian philosophy, mythology, tales of wonder, mudras, and meditation to instill peace. Ramaa has years of experience with a diverse population– seniors, adults, children– and enjoys working with all audiences.
