About the Exhibition:
The Museum of Russian Art announces its annual holiday exhibition showcasing its remarkable collection of Imperial and Soviet-era holiday artifacts. This year, it is called The Yolka, which in Russian can mean a decorated holiday tree, a celebration, or simply a fir tree.
Tree ornaments, garlands, holiday masks and costumes, greetings cards, Grandfather Frost figurines, holiday home decor from the 1930s through the early 1960s – these are the fascinating artifacts you will see in the gallery. Our holiday exhibition honors our donor, Kim Balaschak, whose gift to the museum has become a unique and treasured part of our permanent collection. Kim Balaschak’s collection of Soviet-era holiday ornaments, one of the world’s largest, has been prominently featured in our annual holiday exhibitions at the Museum and other venues.
