The exhibition From Non-Conformism to Feminisms: Russian Women Artists from the Kolodzei Art Foundation features the work of emerging, mid-career, and established artists spanning three artistic generations. The show includes works in a diverse range of media – painting, photography, collage, works on paper, video, and interactive installations – emphasizing the importance of media experimentation for contemporary Russian women artists. Artworks on display represent several stages in the evolution of non-conformist and independent art in Russia, tracing their development from Krushchev’s “Thaw” to the art of the post-Soviet decade and present day. The exhibition is a visual exploration of the development and accomplishments of women artists from Russia.
