Folk Ways: Songs & Dances from Rural Russia
As part of the 3rd Annual Days of Russian Culture at The Museum of Russian Art, the TMORA-affiliated folk group Nitka will present a dynamic night of Russian folk dancing and singing. “Folk Ways: Songs & Dances from Rural Russia” is a concert steeped in the old ritual tradition of Russian circle dances, singing games, solemn ritual events, rare traditional songs from different regional traditions. Unique to TMORA, Nitka performances are known for their authentic feel and a focus on communal female culture of pre-revolutionary Russia.
The Nitka are performance-oriented folklorists who love to present this fascinating slice of the world’s traditional communal culture to broad public. The group is TMORA’s outreach project contributing to Minnesota’s vibrant and varied art scene.
Doors will open at 6:15pm | Performance will begin at 7:00pm
Tickets: TMORA Members $10 | General Admission $15 | Students (with ID) $5
