Panel Discussion on the Russian Painting Style of Nicolai Fechin at The Museum of Russian Art

Attention Artists, Students, and Educators!

Join us at TMORA for an artist-focused lively panel discussion on Russian painting styles in connection with the museum's current Nicholai Fechin exhibition.

Four accomplished local contemporary painters with widely varying practices Bryan Young, Chris Wilcox, Jehra Patrick and Jaron Childs -- some familiar with Fechin's work, others just introduced to it -- will respond to the show. They'll discuss the general practice of painting, the specific achievement of Russian masters in paint handling, the influence of Russian masters on their own work, and more. Drawing from their experiences, they'll bring fresh insight into a remarkable body of work in a discussion geared towards their fellow artist peers. Artists, art students, and educators will find this discussion particularly interesting and are encouraged to attend!

The evening will be moderated by Salon Saloon host and MinnPost columnist Andy Sturdevant.

Come at 6 p.m. to enjoy light refreshments, see the Nicolai Fechin exhibition before it closes, and see examples of each panelist’s work.

Panel discussion from 7 - 8 p.m.

There is no charge for this event.
