Women of the Siege of Leningrad – led by Marie Grubisich
During the 900 day Siege of Leningrad, the city and its citizens were encircled by the enemy and cut off from the outside world. Most of those inside were women. Despite basic survival being a nearly all consuming task they continued to go to work as firefighters, snipers, scientists, artists, librarians, and doctors. Graduate degrees were earned, poems written and scientific discoveries made. Please join us for a casual talk in the gallery about these women of the Siege.
