Russian pianist, Alexander Yakovlev, makes his long awaited return to The Museum of Russian Art after his much heralded sold-out performance in 2014.

Yakovlev has performed more than 500 concerts in some of the most prestigious concert halls around the world including Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, Berlin Philharmonic Hall, Victoria Hall in Geneva, and Carnegie Hall in New York. He has won more than 50 competitions worldwide and gave a performance few people will forget the last time he was in Minneapolis. The program will include works by major Russian composers.
Alexander Yakovlev was born in 1981 in Rostov-on-Don in South Russia where he began music lessons at the age of 6. After graduation from the Rostov-on-Don Conservatoire he remained for postgraduate studies under the supervision of Professor Osipenko, a student of the legendary pianist Lev Oborin. He continued his studies in Salzburg at the Mozarteum Academy and at the Berlin University of the Arts.
Mr. Yakovlev has received numerous awards at various competitions in Madrid, Milan, Rome, Berlin, Naples, Kiev, Moscow, etc. He received 3rd Prize in the Geneva International Piano Competition in Switzerland, 2nd Prize in the Monza International Piano Competition in Italy, and in 2010 was awarded the Grand-Prize at both the Takamatsu International Piano Competition in Japan and the Parnassos-Marcatel International Piano Competition in Mexico. Alexander has won more than 50 first prizes in various competitions and most recently he was the 2012 First Prize winner of the World Piano Competition in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Alexander Yakovlev has appeared in concert halls throughout the world including Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, Berlin Philharmonic Hall, Victoria Hall in Geneva, Palau in Barcelona and Palau Valencia in Valencia, La Sapiensa Concert Hall in Rome, Verdi Concert Hall in Milan, and Carnegie Hall in New York. He is a frequent recitalist throughout Europe in Moscow, Rostov-on-Don, Berlin, Dortmund, Salzburg, Vienna, Sofia, Milan, Rome, Madrid, Valencia, Seville, and Barcelona.
Alexander has performed with numerous orchestras including the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, Suisse Romande Orchestra of Switzerland, the Tokyo Chamber Orchestra and the Osaka Symphony Orchestra in Japan, and the Rome Chamber Orchestra in Italy.
